\"\"<\/a><\/em>\"\"<\/a><\/em>The Algonquin Round Table<\/em> was a group of journalists, writers, actors, & press agents that met for lunch each day at the Algonquin Hotel in the heart of Midtown. <\/span>After World War I, Vanity Fair<\/em> writers and Algonquin regulars Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, and Robert E. Sherwood began lunching at The Algonquin. Together they helped define American taste in the arts for about a decade. Perhaps their greatest contribution was the founding of The New Yorker<\/em> magazine. Though society columns referred to them as The Algonquin Round Table, they called themselves the Vicious Circle. Dorothy Parker and her friends were immortalized in 1987 in the Academy Award-winning documentary, The Ten Year Lunch<\/em>. In 1994, the group was once again transported to the big screen in Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle<\/em>, starring Jennifer Jason Leigh as Dorothy Parker.<\/p>\n
