Truman Capote was a mainstay of the New York social scene. <\/span>He traveled in an eclectic array of social circles, hobnobbing with authors, philanthropists, Hollywood and theatrical celebrities, royalty, and members of high society. He was well known for his distinctive, high-pitched voice and his offbeat manner of dress. To celebrate his rise to the top of high society in 1966 Capote hosted what would become known as the famous Black and White Ball, a virtual “who’s who” of the day. Truman Capote still remains among today’s most celebrated authors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
